[Review] Albrecht Müller - Believe little, Question everything, Think for yourself - Foreign Policy Motives 2020-04-04

Albrecht Müller (SPD) was born in Heidelberg in 1938, he is a graduate in economics, author, publicist and still a member of the SPD (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands/Social Democratic Party of Germany). In 1972 Müller (SPD) led the election campaign for Chancellor Willy Brandt (SPD) who was in office from 1969 to 1974. From 1972, Müller (SPD) headed the planning department under Willy Brandt (SPD) and Helmut Schmidt (SPD). Between 1987 and 1994 Müller (SPD) was also a member of the German Bundestag. [1] [2]

Democracy is often used synonymously with self-determination. In fact the intersection depends on the degree of manufacturing of consent and the external influence on the public debate. As a result political decisions are made under the influence of individual interest groups. And Müller (SPD) has made it his goal to uncover the manufacturing of consent he diagnosed through the media, politicians and political parties. For this Müller (SPD) wrote this and other books and has co-initiated the NachDenkSeiten blog and writes there regularly. [1] [2]

East-West-Conflict

One of the foreign policy motivations where Müller (SPD) thinks manufacturing of consent occurs is the current East-West conflict. Müller (SPD) explains how a campaign runs with different means and from several actors. And this campaign makes Russia and its current President Vladimir Putin responsible for the deteriorating political and economic relations.

Müller (SPD) criticizes that the promise of many politicians to never allow war again after the Second World War resulted not only in the Cold War but also in a new Cold War. Former Federal Minister of the Interior and Federal President Gustav Heinemann has resigned from the CDU because of the rearmament of Germany under Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (CDU). And later Heinemann co-founded the GVP (Gesamtdeutsch Volkspartei/All-German People's Party) and refused to rearm and demand reconciliation with the Soviet Union. [1, p.81-83] Another Ostpolitik was introduced under Chancellor Willy Brandt (SPD) with the aim of a change through rapprochement. Contracts for friendship and cooperation were agreed and the Oder-Neisse border was recognized. However this led to a conflict with quasi-supporters of the Cold War, homeland expellees (Heimatvertriebene) from the former eastern territories of Germany and their representatives. [1, p.83-93] In addition during the Cold War NATO even maintained secret armies called Operation Stay-behind (general) and Operation Gladio (Italy) which is why Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti resigned in October 1990. [1, p.29-34] And during the dissolution of the Soviet Union the then Secretary of State for the United States James Baker, the then Ambassador of the United States to Moscow Jack F. Matlock and the then Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Hans-Dietrich Genscher (FDP) did promise not to expand NATO the east and to the border of Russia. [1, p.38-40] However all of these things are largely kept secret.

After the cold war was over a new confrontation began. Müller (SPD) again criticizes how the reporting manufactured consent at the expense of Russia. On the one hand the change of government in Ukraine in 2014 was unconstitutional, for which the U.S. government has supported NGOs with 5 billion US-Dollar. However both things are largely concealed. [1, p.38-40] In addition the reunification of Crimea to Russia is incorrectly referred to as annexation and Russia is blamed for the downing of the MH17 as well as the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in Salisbury even with insufficient evidence. [1, p.55-59] And this new east-west conflict is currently being promoted by the United States government and local politicians demanding higher defense expenditure from the other NATO member states. NATO proposes that all of its member states spend 2% of their GDP on defense. However the 2% target is not binding. [1, p.24-29] [1, p.61-62] See:

Transatlantic Lobbies

What is special about the new East-West conflict is that it is supported by several NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) such as the Aspen Institute, Atlantic Bridge, Atlantic Council or the German Marshall Fund of the United States. These NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) contain politicians from almost all parties as well as journalists and all aim to improve the relations between the United States and Germany. Journalists and opposition politicians who should actually criticize the government can be found there with common goals. [1, p.50-51]

Transatlantic Lobbies

These transatlantic lobbies are a threat to self-determination. Strategies for manufactorig of consent can be discussed there, closed to the public. And the methods of regulating language, conceal and sending the same message from different corners are typical of the new East-West conflict. [1, p.22-24] [1, p.29-34] [1, p.38-40] [1, p.40-42]
