WIESBADEN - According to updated results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the state's net lending amounted to 58.0 billion euros in 2018. In absolute terms this is the highest surplus the state has achieved since German reunification. Based on the gross domestic product in respective prices (€ 3 386.0 billion), this results in a surplus ratio of +1.7% for the state. These results are data in the demarcation of the European System of Accounts (ESA) 2010, which form the basis for monitoring the budgetary situation in EU Member States.
