Of course it is the task of the press to control politics. Corruption, espionage and sabotage should be reported instead of silenced. Lately however the German press has made suspection reporting against the opposition. Instead of confirmed reports allegations were spread with effective media coverage. EU elections took place from June 6th to 9th, 2024. The AfD has increased its election result from 15.9% to 11%. Before this election, however, allegations against the AfD were loud in the German press. Bundestag elections took place on February 23, 2025. The BSW landed with 4.97% just below the 5% hurdle. Immediately before this election accusations against the BSW were loud.
In April and May 2024 allegations against Petr Bystom (AfD) Member of the Bundestag were loud due to supposed bribery. Bystom (AfD) is said to have accepted money from the Voice of Europe (VOE) media platform. According to the Czech MPs sound recordings from Czech intelligence service of Bystom (AfD) having received cash in the amount of 200,000 euros from Artem Martschewskyj exist. Martschewskyj is supposed to lead voice of Europe (VOE). For the money Voice of Europe (VOE) should expect positive reporting and friendly deputies and employees in the EU Parliament in return. [1] [2] [3] BIS however denies the allegations against bystom (AfD). [4]
In April and May 2024 accusations against the Member of the EU Parliament Maximilian Krah (AfD) were also loud for possible support for espionage. As an EU MP Krah (AfD) had an assistant who was arrested in the middle of the election campaign and under media accompaniment. The Attorney General accuses the employee of spying for a Chinese intelligence service. In addition the Federal Prosecutor's Office had the office space of both people searched in the EU parliament in the course of the investigation. It is striking that despite the negative media accompaniment Krah (AfD) itself is not a suspect but only a witness. [5] [6] In addition the accused employee also offered himself to the Federal Intelligence Service (Bundesnachrichtendienst/BND) as a source but was rejected. However the BND is said to have successfully conveyed him to the Saxon State Office for the Protection of the Constitution. [7] [8]
In January in 2025 allegations were made against finance minister Katja Wolf (BSW) and infrastructure minister Steffen Schütz (BSW) from the BSW coalition in Thuringia. Wolf (BSW) as the mayor of the city of Eisenach was said to have been bribed with a trip to Mallorca. Schütz (BSW) and his marketing company were involved in the application of the city of Eisenach as a location for a future center for German unity and European transformation. The city of Halle then got selected. After the first allegations however the investigation has become quiet. [9] [10] [11] [12]
