Guatemala's seven-year-old girl Jakelin Caal Maquin died of dehydration on December 8, 2018 after being arrested by US authorities.
This is a terrible tragedy for everyone involved.
The authorities or governments of the countries of destination are regularly blamed for such tragedies.
However this is to be proven.
According to US authorities Maquin was arrested on the evening of 6 December with her and a group of more than 160 people. And according to official records Maquin had not eaten or drank for several days. And after more than eight hours Maquin got a high fever and lost consciousness. In the emergency room in the hospital of El Paso (Texas) Maquin could not be helped anymore.
The Homeland Security attorney has now confirmed this information. Maquin's father has also testified that he does not have a complaint against the US authorities for treating his daughter.
