The fascists in Italy of the 20th century did not enforce their goals by democratic means but by force.
Under Benito Mussolini the black shirts not only spread fear and terror but also murdered political opponents.
The rise of the fascists in Italy with violence against those who think differently is thus a valuable lesson from history.
If a society does not protect the rights of individuals who think differently, then it paves the way to go against all those who think differently.
Over several years the population has become accustomed to the violence of the Blackshirts and now provide a valuable lesson from history along with their motto:
On May 24, 2018 the police announced that they had been investigated for a possible attack on the car of the member of parliament of the AfD Anton Friesen. Friesen was at a civil dialogue meeting in the Thuringian town of Zella-Mehlis. When he returned from the event he and his colleague noticed a shaking on the vehicle and found that the wheel nuts on the car were loosened. [1] [2]
In October 2018 there were repeated attacks on Rigaer street in Berlin. First there was a discussion round about rising rents for protests and threats. The city council Florian Schmidt was threatened the next time to be attacked next time and followed on foot. After that police vehicles were repeatedly attacked with paving stones. And after a major raid residents of the searched homes called for violence against police officers on the website indymedia. In a letter they threaten both the lawyer of the homeowner and the police: [3] [4] [5] [6]
On December 20, 2018 a police officer was seriously injured because he wanted to ensure order at an event of the AfD in Cologne. The AfD had invited to a civil dialogue in Cologne then a meeting was registered in front of the building. However the demonstrators ran to the podium chanted slogans and unrolled banners. In an attempt to lead the demonstrators off the stage the policeman was knocked off the stage and then sent to a hospital. [11] [12] [13] [14]
In the Hambach Forest between Cologne and Aachen there have been repeated attacks on police and RWE employees in recent months. Left-wing extremists attacked security men of the energy company RWE in the Hambacher Forst on the night of Christmas Eve to the first day of Christmas. As the police Aachen announced the hooded extremists threw with Molotov cocktails and stones. Two vehicles were caught on fire and two others were damaged by stones. The police were only able to bring the situation under control with numerous officials and a helicopter. The criminal investigation department has opened investigations on suspicion of violent breaches of the peace, willful arson and dangerous assault. [15] [16]
And this is just a symbolic selection of moderate incidents since the beginning of the second half of 2018. No incident has caused a public scandal. The reaction was always:
By contrast left-wing extremist violence increased from 1,201 incidents in 2016 to 1,648 in 2017. Of them 264 were directed against right-wing extremists or alleged right-wing extremists and 1,135 were directed against police or security agencies. By contrast the number of extremists with right-wing potential increased from 29,400 in 2016 to 30,400 in 2017. Even without an increase in left-wing extremist violence they would have overtaken the right-wing extremist violence. [21,S.31] [21,S.33] [21,S.34] [21,S.49]
It is striking that the political opponent is no longer perceived as a human being. The AfD has become an exaggerated stereotype. An exaggerated stereotype that is necessary to justify the attacks and riots. The left rages against alleged Nazis. And more and more it becomes clear that it is fighting for itself and for the sake of its own.

Angela Marquardt is a member of the Social Democrats and managing director of the think-tank Arbeitskreises Denkfabrik (working group think-tank).
