The term suppression techniques was significantly influenced by the Norwegian Berit As.

Traditionally these methods of suppression are attributed to authoritarian or right-wing governments.
But leftists have suppression techniques as well.
The left believes that only socio-economic problems can be solved. A common saying is therefore "It's the economy stupid". If the improvement in socioeconomic conditions does not bring the desired success or if there are still different levels of problems on the basis of other characteristics then leftists gladly refuse the debate. Problems on which left have no answer or solution are therefore neglected.
The Left rejects violations of international law and trade agreements to the detriment of other countries. That's good and right. The popular support for trade contracts to other countries is very low. Popular support for wars that violate international law is close to zero. But if one thing occurs anyway, the left all too often shows the employers' associations really could not wish for a better left. Then the entire population has bear the burden.
Currently this means that the population should provide for refugees and endure the wage pressure from the increased supply of low-wage workers. Because a government decides against the will and interests of the population the population has to bear the consequences. Thus leftist de facto demand wage cuts through immigration, as compensation for violations of international law and unfair trade agreements because the government has decided against the will and interests of the population. This is particularly fatal because in Germany Left and Social Democrats are co-organizing with the Green Party which regularly agrees to every military intervention.
Left-wingers have difficulties with problems that they can not solve or that they can not respond to by their standards. In this case they like to draw false equivalences. Or they legitimize new problems with failed opposition in the past. Currently this means that the population can not complain about the costs of the refugee crisis because they could not prevent the costs of the past bank-bailouts.
The federal government regularly publishes a poverty and wealth report. The goal is to improve the livelihood and opportunities of the disadvantaged in society. In 2017 the report should include the statement that the influence of political decision depends on the income of those whos support them.

"The more people with a high income who have an opinion, the more likely a political decision in their favor. " [1]The poor are less and less likely to vote for Social Democrats in Europe because they no longer make political decisions in their interest.
